Lake Trout

Lake Trout Fishing Tackle and Techniques
Angling Experience
Suggested Tackle
Novice
Three simple ingredients: 3/4 oz. egg sinkers, snap swivels, and treble hooks (size 4). This combination is topped with a herring to create one of the hottest Lake Trout appetizers going! Also, the standard 1/2 oz. jig (chartreuse) accompanied with a white twister tail works wonders for mid-summer jigging action.
Seasoned
Along with the herring rigs and jigs, fancy yourself as an ultimate jig fisherman and try on a Sonar for size! 5/8 oz. is perfect, now its up to you to hook one of these beasts when it hits this treat while its being jigged up!
Veteran
The basic Trout fishing lures listed above should accompany you, but go for it all and try your luck with the flashy Sutton Spoon. For that matter, how about some long lining with flutter spoons! The colours of choice would have to be Chartreuse, Oranges and Silvers. These baits are best suited for spring and fall fishing and require several egg sinkers to get your spoon into the strike zone.
