Walleye

Walleye Fishing Tackle and Techniques
Angling Experience
Suggested Tackle
Novice
1/2 oz to 3/8 oz jigs are the most popular baits. The key is to be able to feel the lake bottom. Various colours are used, flourescents being the most popular choices (red, pink, green, orange, yellow). These jigs should be tipped with a minnow to present the Walleyes with their favorite bait.
Seasoned
3/8 oz. to 1/4 oz. jigs are choice here, in the same colours as listed above. The difference is all in the weight of the jig. If you want to expand your Walleye angling techniques in the spring and fall, you may dare to use some crank baits such as: Wally Divers, Rapalas and Rattlin Raps.
Veteran
1/4 oz. jigs are the only way to go for a pro! Or use those new crank baits you've been dying to try.

To help prevent line twists, we recommend using a snap swivel - size #9 will work the best.
